How prestigious is the John Locke Contest?

The John Locke Contest is a rigorous and selective writing competition in the social sciences and humanities.

While it is not as selective as the Concord Review and has a much broader range of students who can receive prizes,

it is still considered a highly competitive program.

Winning a John Locke essay contest will have clear benefits for you in your application process to universities and would reflect well on your application.

On the other hand, a shortlist or a commendation might not have a huge impact given that it is awarded to many students (more on this later).
